WHAT TO BRING FOR YOUR DOG'S STAY:
Please plan to bring the following with you for your dog's stay:

  • Their current food -- bring enough for their full stay, but also add some extra (a day or two's worth) in case of unexpected travel delays prevent you from returning when you planned to -- delayed/rescheduled flights, car trouble, it happens! Don't waste your time pre-bagging each meal into separate baggies for me -- just let me know the measurement required and I'll happily feed them only that amount from your large container of food. (By the way, we feed everyone separately to ensure they eat only their own food and not someone else's (so as not to upset their stomach)).

  • Their treats (optional) -- if quickly consumable; please don't bring anything that takes a long time to consume as resource guarding by your pup or other pups present can lead to "disagreements" we'd prefer to avoid.  No need to bring gift treats for the other boarding pups -- we don't share treats with other pups as many dogs are sensitive to new food sources.

  • Any medications that we'll need to give along with WRITTEN (or texted) INSTRUCTIONS as to how much to give and when. Please DO NOT verbally give me these instructions when you drop off your pup(s) as there's a LOT of commotion inside when new pups arrive, and after I've unpacked their items you brought, put security tags on their collars, and introduced them one-by-one to the other pups present, I've long forgotten whatever you told me verbally at my front door! Please help a busy guy out -- WRITTEN (or texted) INSTRUCTIONS, please!

  • Anti-pull vests/harnesses -- if you own them and would like your pup(s) walked during their stay.

WHAT **NOT** TO BRING:

We have limited storage space for dog items and supplies, so please don't bring anything that isn't needed for their stay. That includes:

  • Their food & water bowls -- we have a large supply of dog food bowls, and everyone drinks from a common large water source. We also have several slow-feeder bowls for those pups who eat too fast for their own good -- just be sure to remind us that your pup needs to use one!

  • Their favorite toy(s) -- if you bring toys, I can't guarantee that I will be able to return them to you. Dogs will carry them outside and lose them in our flower gardens and/or some will quickly destroy toys through heavy chewing or tug-of-war. We have a HUGE supply of dog toys, and I actually find that newly arrived dogs actually prefer having new toys to play with.

  • Their dog crate -- most likely, we wouldn't use it unless you specify that your pup must sleep in one at night -- and we have several crates that could possibly be used for that or if someone needs a "timeout" for disruptive behavior or to get away from the other pups for a mental break.

  • Their doggie bed -- you're welcome to bring along, but we have several doggie beds here that mostly go unused by all the boarding dogs -- they prefer our sofas during the day and our bed at night! Plus, other boarding dogs present may damage your pup's doggie bed through chewing or peeing (rarely), unfortunately.

DURING THEIR STAY:

During the Spring/Summer/Fall (if not too hot), your dog(s) and ours will spend a good deal of time outdoors in our fenced yard with me supervising their exploring and playing. When not out there, they will be indoors with me and our three doodles -- we have LOTS of dog toys to play with (when they're not playing with our doodles). We are happy to allow your dog(s) on our furniture along with ours, unless you do not permit that in your home. At night, we allow any of the dogs to sleep in bed with us, but also won't allow that if you don't allow that in your home. If your dog is crated at night, we can do that as well to keep their routine as normal as possible. I typically send a daily update, either a video or photo(s) to let you know how your dog(s) are doing -- unless you'd prefer to not be bothered while away (and if that's the case, please let me know!).

  • Added security: For each dog that comes to stay with us, we'll be temporarily adding one of these pet ID tags (with a scannable QR Code) onto their collar (and if they didn't arrive with a collar, we'll be adding one of those temporarily also!) to add an extra layer of protection for your pups! In the unlikely event one of the boarded dogs manages to get out of our secured fenced backyard, whomever finds him/her will be able to quickly alert us to their location so that we can quickly pick them up and return them to the safety of our home (and hopefully bypass calling you based on any other tag information they may be wearing while you're relaxing on vacation). We're gonna do our best to retrieve these from your pup's collar before they come back home with you, but we do ask that if you see one still hanging on his/her collar, that you please pop it into the mail back to us as we only have a limited supply of them.
